The grass and field
When conducting metal detection activities in grassy areas and fields, we are mindful of preserving the aesthetic appeal of your property. Here’s how we ensure minimal impact:
- Surface-Level Finds: For items located at the surface, minimal disturbance is required. We simply brush blades of grass aside to retrieve the lost item, leaving the area largely undisturbed.
- Sub-Surface Finds: When retrieving items located below the surface, we use a knife-like digging tool to cut a plug out of the ground. The replaced plug leaves a small amount of dirt around the hole, which typically becomes unnoticeable after a light rainfall or activation of sprinklers.
- Larger Areas: In cases requiring a larger search area, we use a sharp spade to extract items. The excavated dirt is piled to the side and replaced, and the grass plug is placed back on top and tamped down minimizing impact on the surrounding grass or field. Again the excavated area is normally indistinguishable from the surrounding area after good rainfall.
- Field Considerations: In fields or unfinished areas, all holes are filled in with the excavated material and tamped down. Following a light rainfall, any plugged areas become virtually undetectable, ensuring minimal impact on the landscape.
Through these methods, we prioritize the preservation of your lawn and fields, ensuring that our metal detection activities have minimal long-term impact on your property’s appearance.
